The
Misterton First Responders scheme was originally set up to
provide First Responder cover to the following five villages,
in the District of Bassetlaw in North Nottinghamshire:-
- Misterton
- Beckingham
cum Saundby
- West
Stockwith
- Walkeringham
- Gringley-on-the-Hill
Since
the scheme launched in 2004, the "response area"
has been increased and calls are also attended in the following
nearby parishes in North Nottinghamshire if required:-
- Mattersey
& Mattersey Thorpe
- Everton,
Harwell & Scaftworth
- Clayworth
& Wieston
- Bole,
West Burton, North & South Wheatley
The
team also attends call-outs just across the border into the
Isle of Axholme in North Lincolnshire to the following villages:-
- Gunthorpe
& Owston Ferry
- Westwoodside,
Haxey & Graiselound
First
Responders aim to arrive on scene as quickly and safely as
possible after being alerted to an incident via the ambulance
service pager. First Responders from the Misterton First Responder
team should be able to travel to any these villages in a relatively
short time, usually arriving within 3 to 8 minutes.
The chances of survival decrease by 10% with each minute
that passes when a patients heart has stopped beating and
early defibrillation is the key to successful resuscitation,
therefore our team we will always try to attend any call that
is presented to us by East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS
Trust, as we know our prompt attendence could in some cases
make a real difference to the patients chances of survival.
